NPL April 2024 eNewsletter
Celebrate National Library Week, April 7-13!
Next week is National Library Week! Did you know that check-outs of library materials are up 71% and visits to the Library are up 73% from when the Library first opened its doors to the new building in June 2010? 13 years later and NPL continues to work hard to meet the needs of its community.

Here are just a few of the ways NPL is available to you:
  • A diverse collection of over 140,000 items to check out as well as thousands of digital opportunities (books, magazines, DVDs/Blu Rays, kits and MORE)
  • Open 7 days a week for a total of 66 hours Monday - Sunday
  • Programs for all ages (story times, author events, historical presentations, music and MORE)
  • Spaces to rent for large and small groups
  • A daily after-school teen program
  • A café proudly serving Starbucks coffee and treats
  • Unique artwork to view and enjoy
  • Mail service for those who are homebound
During this special week that celebrates libraries and reading, we hope community members will make extra efforts to attend a library program or read a great title!

Did you know that NPL requires all Librarians to earn a 2-year Master's Degree in Library or Information Science from an ALA (American Librarian Association) accredited institution? That's right readers! These staff members took their education beyond 4 years in order to provide their expertise and assist visitors with their library and information needs. NPL's staff has a wealth of knowledge and experience in the areas of: literature, the arts, early literacy, international languages, technology, history and more!

Gleaners Community Food Bank logo
Food for Thought Food Drive
Coming April 7-13, 2024
As part of our celebration of National Library Week and this year’s theme of “Ready, Set, Library!”, we are partnering with Gleaners Community Food Bank and other TLN libraries to collect non-perishable food items to help feed hungry children, seniors and families in our community.

Donations to food banks are lagging as the holidays have passed, but we can help in the fight against hunger. With your support, you enable us to continue this crucial work supporting families struggling to make ends meet.

From Sunday, April 7 through Saturday, April 13 drop off items in the designated boxes in our lobby. Non-perishable food items need to be unopened, still have the original label intact and have an expiration date of October 1, 2024 or later.

Thank you for joining us in the fight against hunger in Southeast Michigan!

Art in the Library

The Novi Photography Club is showcasing a photography exhibit in the Library through the end of May. Come and support these incredibly talented local artists and view their photographs around the outside of our 2nd Floor Quiet Study Room. Be sure to cast your vote for your three favorite photos!

Also, check out our Tiny Art Show, featuring 4x4 inch canvases decorated by your fellow Novi residents. These works of art will be displayed in cases on both the first and second floor throughout April.

Where Do I...?

NPL has so many things to discover, we know it can sometimes be hard to find what you are looking for. That's why we are introducing a video series to show you around both our building and our website, starting with some of our most frequent requests... where do I find the restrooms, tax forms and iCube Makerspace information? More videos will be added regularly to help guests find and use our many resources!
